Paint it Black, Matisse
When Matisse joined me in 2016, he came packaged with the mentorship and friendship of one of the Chow Chow world's most established breeders - Zola Coogan (Redcloud Chow Chows, USA).
Through decades of great variance in show ring styles, the Redcloud Chows remained of one style. Zola chose to stay consistently closer to the original type than most breeders did. She set the example in extensive health testing. She also promoted health by putting many of the Redcloud Chow Chows through performance dog sports. Irrespective of showring fads, throughout the decades her Chow Chows were evaluated as excellent in both conformation shows and in performance dog sport.
Matisse is Essence of an Ancient Legacy.
Matisse (or Rocky as he was known in the USA) is an absolute joy to own. He currently lives with Enya - companions to my aged and frail parents. Although a very lively boy, he shows great respect for my parents and is very careful when around them.
Matisse has a stable but strong mind (superbly trained, thank you Zola). He does not like other male dogs, but is good with puppies and female dogs. He is also great with people. True to his heritage he is a super hunter - smart, agile and active. A few unfortunate birds and cats gave testimony to his cunning hunter's mind.
